Custom Made Aquariums - Aquarium Styles and Fish Choices Ideas

There is nothing like the attraction of having your very own view of the ocean with fish swimming around in an aquarium. You may decide choose some custom made aquariums, which they can make yourself or get someone else to do it for you, because the space you have chosen does not take the standard size aquarium that you can buy and it is already made.

An aquarium, whether it is in the office or at home, is very relaxing and is something that can be captivating for a long period of time, as well as setting off the room as a beautiful highlight. Live coral and plants can be added to the aquarium to create the illusions of a miniature reef in an office or home. As well you can use different colored shells as well for the same effect. Don't know here to start? Thats ok, there are a lot of people who choose to get someone else to do all the work for them. It all depends on your budget and how confident you feel about doing it yourself.

The first thing to consider even before you you start is to decide on the size, shape and type of aquarium.

Salt Water fish tanks or Freshwater?

Size - are you going for an unusual or irregular size? Large or small? One of the great advantages of a custom made aquarium is that you can aim for a look that you normally may not have considered. Then the only limitation is in your imagination.

Shape-Hexagon is a popular shape but triangular can be placed in areas where space is limited.

Corner aquariums can be used so that they are discreet but can still be seen. The conventional rectangular shape can be taken to new levels with the addition of extras like putting it in a custom made case that has area above and below that contains all the tubing and wiring. Go for glass that has a blue light behind it and the whole look changes. Don't hold back. The choices become limitless.?Wall mounted instead of having it as free-standing? Deeper or taller than your normal sized tank?

Type of aquarium -?Saltwater or freshwater fish tank??Freshwater is less expensive in the form of start up costs however you cannot match the sheer brilliance of a saltwater tank. Are saltwater harder to look after than freshwater? While there is more details that need to be considered; use the right atmosphere and know what care needs to be done to take proper care of the fish. Do you homework first. Acrylic is the best material to use as it is lighter than glass and it is easy to make unique. If your budget is a concern then you can still go for glass.

Choose fish and plants that live well together as you are designing an ecosystem. Some fish do not get on well and have some preferences when it comes to plants. ?You don't want to invest in a lot of fish and plants that end up dead.

Choosing to go with custom made aquariums opens up a world of possibilities that you may not have considered with a conventional aquarium. Take into consideration the factors I have outlined in this article when making your final decision to set off that special area at the home or office.

How to Setup a Tropical Fish Tank - A Beginners Guide

A tropical aquarium can create a focal point for any room. This guide will show you how to put together a low maintenance aquarium in a few easy steps.

1. Buy an aquarium and hood (lid) with a light. Generally it is easier to maintain a bigger tank than a small one but the equipment for bigger tanks is also more expensive. I would recommend an aquarium that is at least 24 inches long by 12 inches high by 12 inches wide. This size is easy to maintain and will work well even in a small room. It will also allow you enough space for a few different types of tropical fish. Buy an electric internal submersible filter; ensuring it is the right size for your aquarium. For this size of aquarium I would recommend the Fluval 2 plus, in my experience Fluval internal filters tend to be the best quality and are easy to maintain. Filters usually say on the box what size aquarium they are suitable for.

You will also need a thermometer, gravel or sand, backing for the aquarium (the picture that goes at the rear to create an ocean feel), a heater, for this size of aquarium 150 watts will be fine.

2. Wash the aquarium out with warm water and a new cloth. Do not use detergent or bleach as it will kill the fish, no matter how well you think you have washed it out. Wash the sand/gravel and the filter sponge/media. It should just clip open so that you can remove it for washing.Wash the sand/gravel in a bucket with clean warm water. The filter sponge can be rinsed under the tap.

3. Tape the backing to the rear of the aquarium. You will need to mount the tank near a plug socket in order to run the filter and heater. Make sure its not opposite a window as the light will cause algae to build up. Also avoid putting it near a radiator or heat source. Place the aquarium on a table or aquarium stand against a wall. Gently pour the sand or gravel into the bottom of the aquarium and using the stick on mounts, place the heater and filter inside the aquarium. Do not plug them in yet!

4. Fill the tank with water and turn the heater and filter on. Leave the tank for at least 72 hours before adding fish. Tropical tanks should have water that is between 26-27 degrees centigrade. The heater has a thermostat built in so it will maintain this temperature.

5. Now you can add your fish. I recommend, tiger barbs, guppies and neon tetras. When adding fish, do it gradually, 2 or 3 at a time, over a period of 3 weeks. Float the bag containing the fish inside the aquarium for around fifteen minutes. Tear a small hole in the side of the bag and let them swim out on their own. This will avoid any trauma for them. Leave all lights off for around 24 hours when you add new fish.

6. Enjoy your beautiful new aquarium.

How to Save Money When You Buy a Wall Mounted Aquarium

Aquariums come in many sizes and styles. Mounted wall aquariums are those installed in a wall. These are excellent choice for a fish hobbyist and anyone who wants to reduce his/her body, spirit and mind, who lives in an apartment too small to afford a large aquarium. To buy a wall mounted aquarium is also great for better decoration and having an aesthetic finish to a great visual of the apartment.

Hang on the wall fish tanks are available in many sizes. There are panoramic and mega wall aquariums and available for large, small or medium sized walls. Also circular wall aquariums can be found. One may need to hire a professional to help understand if there are pipes, wirings or air ducts in the wall s/he intends to use. When buying a fish wall hanging, one is investing a lot of money and the amount goes bigger with the size of the aquarium. As the sizes commonly vary within 2 ft to 30 ft in width, the cost varies form $200 to $2000.

Once you have selected a size, shape and all the other criteria, you need to select a place to buy it from. You may choose to buy a wall mounted aquarium online or from a local pet shop according to your budget, advantage and availability. This is the place where it sometimes gets tricky. Deciding what to buy is relatively easier than deciding where to buy from specially if there are a lot of options available.

Buying a wall mounted fish bowl online is a good option today, not only because of the less complexity and more ease on installation, but also because of the pricing. Local pet shops often tend to quote a higher price because they are often the only (or one of the very few) shop of their own genre.

But in the case of online shopping, the scenario is totally different. There are numerous websites offering sale for wall mounted aquariums and the price decrease because of sheer competition. Also the online auction schemes like the e-bay and others can help a lot, as it might play according to your luck. If saving money is something important to you, we recommend that you buy a wall mounted aquarium on the web.

Websites like eBay.com presents you with many options. The options for auction and buy-it-now on e-bay can offer different prices and you have a chance to decide where to choose form instead of pet stores where you need to pay a visit and decide. Also accessories can be easy to find on the web.

A wall hanging fish bowl can be a lucrative decision for your home. It adds value. Research what you need/like and evaluate your product form the sea of vendors available on the internet.

You can buy a wall mounted aquarium at very cheap prices these days, I have hung this wall aquarium up for a friend of the family, if you want to know more about where you can buy a wall mounted aquarium visit my site http://www.sunnyfishtank.com/wallmountedaquariums.php

Guide on Setting Up Freshwater Fish Tank

Setting up a freshwater fish tank may sound complicated especially if we hear the word "Cycling". Don't let it scare you because it's actually very easy. After you have decided what fish you want, the next thing to decide on is your aquarium. Is it big enough to accommodate all the fish and ornaments? The fish should have an enough room to swim at so they'll stay happy and active. With regard to ornaments, remember that crowding your fish with too many ornaments will not do them any good. There are plenty to choose from but make sure you plan everything well so you won't end up wasting money. We're lucky because technology and some advancement enable us to care for our fish easily and more affordable.

To get started, place your freshwater fish tank in a suitable location. It is not advisable to put it where there's a lot of sunlight coming in and where there's a lot of traffic. Rinse the aquarium or clean it out with a slightly damp cloth to get rid of any dirt or dust. Adding a background is a great way to mask the cords that will be hanging behind the wall. It also adds drama and depth to your aquarium and it makes it more pleasing to the eyes. Now it's time to add your substrate. Choose something that will best suit your fish. Make sure to wash the substrate or gravel to get rid of fine particles or any dirt materials. If you are going to use live plants you can use a clay-based gravel substrate. The main role of a substrate is to bed beneficial bacteria with the aid of the tank heater.

The next step in setting up your freshwater fish tank is to fill it with 1/3 water. Place a plate at the middle so that when you pour the water, gravel will not be displaced. Add plants and other ornaments according to what you like it to look like. Driftwood and silk plants are ideal for beginners. Fill the aquarium with more water (3 quarters full) and then install the heater. Mount the thermometer on the other side of the aquarium (opposite the heater). I don't suggest floating thermometers because they're hard to read sometimes. Fill the remainder of the aquarium with water and don't forget to pour a couple of drops of chlorine remover. Set up the filter and plug it. Wait for 24 hours for the temperature to be stable. Now it's time for cycling. You can complete this just by pouring a biological additive and then wait for another 24 hours and then test the water for ammonia and nitrite content. Test your water everyday and this can take up to two weeks. Once the water's ammonia and nitrite level becomes zero, you can add your fish but do it a few at a time and then you're done!

When Starting a Tropical Freshwater Fish Aquarium Don't Forget Aquarium Fish Tanks

The biggest thing you will buy when you're starting a tropical freshwater fish aquarium is of course an aquarium fish tank and there are several points you need to consider before buying one so that you don't waste any time or money. Here we take a quick look.

There are two main factors to consider initially. Are you going to have glass or acrylic tank? And what size tank are you going to have.

A glass tank will shatter more easily if hit with force like a child accidentally kicking a ball at it, whereas acrylic will just send the ball bouncing off. Having said that, acrylic is slightly more expensive so you'll need to weigh up if it's worth it or not.

As regards to size, in my opinion it is far better to research the hobby thoroughly before doing anything else so that you are pretty much decided that this hobby is for you. Ask anyone who did not do this and they will tell you that over time they bought a small tank to start with then the next biggest tank, then the next and so on until they got the biggest one they could fit into their available space at home. If you know the hobby is for you then just buy the biggest one straight away and save all that money.

Having done that you can consider cold water aquariums, tropical aquariums, aquariums with cabinets and wall mounted aquariums etc. If you're really extravagant you might even have an aquarium put into a wall so you can see through it into the next room. Why not eh?

Please consider these factors before buying your aquarium and before you start a freshwater fish aquarium as it really will start you on the correct foot without unnecessary cost. That way you'll have a hobby which won't be a quick fad but will last for life.

Wall Mounted Fish Tank Aquariums

A wall mounted fish tank aquarium can be a real asset to any household, with all of the family enjoying the rich environment of a school of tropical or saltwater fish. Aquariums are a good option for anyone looking to get a pet, unlike dogs they don't need to be constantly walked. There are a few maintenance jobs that you have to do but they aren't going to be to tiring.

Before starting a fish tank aquarium, its a good idea to decide which sort of fish you would like to keep, the choices are between freshwater and marine fish. Tropical fish obviously needs a higher temperature environment to survive. Both types of environments offer their own unique species so its up to you decide which ones you like best.

Wall mounted fish tanks are usually quite small, this is because it is hard to support large quantities of water because of its weight (you could have it built into the wall - but that's a bit dramatic for the average beginner). The problem with small quantities of water is that you can only house one inch of fish for every gallon. Also, smaller bodies of water are less inclined to changes such as higher pH and ammonia levels. It can be difficult for a beginner to keep tabs on the right levels or what not, while in the case you forget to check or treat the water you can lose your pets very quickly, it's recommended that newbies invest in a larger tank as the changes are less dramatic and easier to manage.

Take a look at these wall mounted aquariums and decide which will be the best option for you and your home.

Finding a decent wall mounted fish tank doesn't have to be difficult, take a look at the article for more information.

Space Saving Fish Tank

It's not easy to find room for pets when you live in small homes or in city center apartment buildings. However, rather than not keeping a pet you might consider keeping fish. You may not be able to cuddle them, or walk them on a leash, but they do look attractive when swimming around their tank and their tanks make an ideal accent piece to any room's decor. If you are keeping fish for the first time then it is essential that you learn as much as you can before getting your first tank - not least because you will have to decide on whether you are going to keep tropical fish, freshwater fish, or salt water fish and, when you do decide, what kind you intend to keep and what size. In fact, the choice is fairly extensive. For those people who really do have diminutive living space, then a space saving fish tank is an absolutely essential criteria.

A new fish tank needs to go through an evolving cycle before your new fish can settle in comfortably. An aquarium needs bacteria to process the ammonia produced by the fish's waste matter and, as this cycle takes about eight weeks to establish, only purchase a few fish at the beginning - and keep the more expensive varieties until your tank has well and truly settled. Fish really thrive in an environment that mimics their own natural home conditions - they need places to hide, places to sleep, and places to swim. So, decorating your fish tank is not just to make it look attractive, but to keep your fish comfortable and as happy as possible. It is no joke that happy animals make healthy animals - and this includes the fish world as well!

Before purchasing your basic equipment, however, you really do need to consider how much space you can allocate to your new fish tank. After all, if everything goes well, your tank and the fish it will contain are likely to be with you for a long time. So, rather than buy the biggest tank you can afford, focus on getting the one that fills the space you have allocated for it. Take into account the fact that you are going to have to house the filter, air pump, and heater. You would do well to consider installing a portrait aquarium which is a fish tank that is mounted on the wall. I think, in terms of a space saving fish tank, this ticks all the boxes. The general size of a wall aquarium is about 18 inches long, and between 16 - 18 inches in height. They are usually about 4 - 6 inches deep. Whilst these are best in terms of space saving, wall mounted fish tanks are more expensive to purchase and cost more than other aquaria to maintain.

At least the portrait aquarium won't get accidentally knocked over! Check out where the pipes and electrical are and if there are any air ducts to avoid. If the wall you have allocated is a stud wall you need to ensure you are able to locate the studs for the load to be attached to. There are a couple of ways to hang your aquarium: either build it into your wall, or hang it from your wall. Another thing to take into account is the shape of the fish tank and the size of the fish you intend to keep. They all matter if you and your fish are going to be happy with each other.

Wall Mounted Fish Tanks - Are They Right For You?

Have you ever seen the beautiful sight of a wall mounted fish tank? Maybe not in your neck of the woods, but you have probably seen them in the movies or inside some place like the Rainforest Café. These types of wall tanks are usually longer in length and only about 6 inches thick. Mounted into a wall or not, they definitely provide a sufficient living environment for any type of tropical or fresh water fish. Of course a mounted fish tank costs way more than a standard glass tank. On average they cost about $1,500.

Though they are a but costly, mounted tanks are advantageous in a number of ways. The best thing about a mounted tank is that they don't take up any extra space in your room. Better yet, you have literally no risk of knocking the fish tank over. Now that is a pain! These mounted aquariums are also great for smaller rooms and office type settings because they take up wall space and not floor space. You have probably seen these types of tanks at the dentist's office at some point in your life. They are very practical. And they are extremely popular in public spaces and environments around the cities. Wall mounted fish tanks can sometimes extend the entire length of a wall and sometimes the make up the entire wall, making it a great fixture to walk around. They really are visual masterpieces. Accessing the tank from both sides makes for a very lively, and exciting decoration.

Though mounted fish tanks are great for some reasons, there are also some downsides to owning one. For example if you have a smaller, maybe run down apartment, you take the risk of shattering your tank if you slam your doors too hard. You really need to preplan where you want your tank to be hung so that it's in the safest place possible. You also want to be sure that you have a helper to assist you in installing. They can be very difficult to mount up no matter how strong you think you are. Lastly, the biggest disadvantage to owning a wall mounted fish tank is the fact that it is a lot harder to clean. It can be a very difficult process to even attempt cleaning a tank that is 6 inches away from the wall and higher than 5 feet off the ground. It is almost impossible, but you can get the hang of it I'm sure.

The aesthetic appeal of a mounted fish tank by far outdoes the rest. It makes for an interesting d?cor piece as well as conversational element. Even though they are a bit more expensive wall mounted fish tanks are definitely worth it!

3 Unusual Aquarium Tanks For the Home and the Office

Fish tank aquariums are so much more than just pretty displays. It lights up a dull old room, livens up the dullest of office spaces and provides great company for any young child who wants something to care for. The days of the old fish bowl with tedious cleaning is long gone and today fish tanks are quite sophisticated. In terms of functionality its come a long way, but its no longer enough for a tank to just work well. They have to look great as well and this is what drives a lot of the latest designs.

The latest fish tank designs includes some pretty funky designs. Anything from old computer screens to iPod cases and even toilets found itself host to some (un)lucky fish. A lot of it is just plain gimmicks, but there are 3 in particular that I think can be a great addition to any room - without compromising on the functionality.

1. Wall Mounted Tanks
Fish tanks that look like giant paintings is one of the latest trends that's not only beautiful but a great way to save on space and liven up any room. With a very flat design and built in equipment it can be a very elegant solution and a welcome change to big bulky tanks on solid stands.

2. Table Tanks
Although this is a bit controversial, the idea of a coffee table that's actually a fish tank is brilliant. After all, we have glass coffee tables anyway, so why not bring it to life and put some fish in there? There are quite a few designs on the market - some completely encased in class while others have elegant wooden or aluminum frames.

3. Freestanding Tanks
Although these aren't that unusual its still a welcome break from the conventional tanks that has to be placed against a wall. By incorporating all the equipment into the base of the tank it can be freestanding with 360 degree clear views around the tank. Its great for display purposes and works really well with cylindrical designs.

Fish Tank Designs

It can be a tough choice picking a fish tank aquarium, there are many variables to consider. Some questions you should ask yourself is what sort of fish are you looking to keep and what if any plants and accessories would you like inside your tank.

When we think of a fish tank design, we usually imagine the common square or rectangular glass tank. Well, if you do not fancy such a plain design, there are a few companies that have put together fish tank designs that you might find interesting. How about a coffee table fish tank? Or perhaps a circular wall mounted aquarium. Really the possibilities are endless.

Most fish tank aquariums are created with glass or acrylic, both with their advantages and disadvantages. It's really down to personal choice, plastic is usually more often than not cheaper than glass. Having a rough guide of what and how many fish you want to keep will give you an indication of what size your tank should be. Bare in mind that most experts will tell you that you should keep no more than one inch of fish to every gallon of water that is in your tank. A 55 gallon tank is recommended if you want to keep around 25 2 inch long fish.

Remember, this measure is for fully grown adult fish. You may run into some serious trouble if you are purchasing baby fish which may grow 2-10 times it's current size. Over filling your tank in this nature will result in intoxication in the water via a problematic nitrogen cycle.

It's a smart move to pick the right fish tank design that will suit your room before going out on a whim and selecting one randomly from the pet store.

How to Choose and Install a Wall Fish Tank

Wall fish tanks give a dramatic and elegant look to any room. They can be mounted on a dividing wall so that they can be viewed from two rooms. Although they are more expensive than stand mounted fish tanks and harder to install you will be pleased you have made the effort and investment when you see how good they look and how much they are admired by your visitors. They can, however, be a harder to maintain than a regular fish tank as they are installed in a limited space which makes it slightly harder to access them for cleaning and other maintenance. Some now come with cabinets above or below the tank which can help make access easier.

Some of the newer wall fish tanks come as kits with all the accessories and mounting fixtures needed so that the filters, pump etc. are easily concealed. These are easy to install so you may not need a professional to do it for you. If you are unsure of your skills in this area, however, it is well worth paying someone to do the installation for you so that all you need to do then is to fill your fish tank and stock it.

One of the things you need to do before you hang a fish tank is to find out if there are any electrical wires or pipes in the wall where you intend to place it. You also need to find a load bearing wall and locate the wall studs. Fish tanks can be very heavy when filled with water so you need to be sure that the wall and studs can bear the weight. You also need to decide whether you are going to hang the fish tank or build it into the wall.

The next thing to do is to measure the area where you are going to place the fish tank and make sure you allow some space for accessories such as lights, pumps and filters. The pump can be placed some distance away from the fish tank, such as in another room, and water brought to the tank through pipes. Although this is extra work on installation it does have the advantage that you can pump a large amount of water through the tank, which allows you to keep more fish, and also keeps the noise of the pump away from the room. One of the problems with wall tanks is that they tend to be narrow so they have a smaller surface area than rectangular fish tanks. This means that unless you oxygenate the water very well you will not be able to keep so many fish in the tank.

If you're going to use a professional carpenter or builder to install your fish tank talk to him before you buy the tank and make sure that he knows exactly what you need to be done. once your tank is installed it will need to be treated just like any other fish tank by cycling the tank before you add the fish. We recommend a fishless cycling method that is easy to do and does not cause distress to the fish. Once you have cycled tank you can start to add your fish and plants if you are using them.

A very dramatic effect can be achieved by making a saltwater tank with colorful saltwater fish and corals, but this is, perhaps a project for more experienced fish keeper. A wall fish tank, as we have said, makes an excellent focal point in your room and is sure to be admired by all your visitors.

Fish Tanks

Fish tanks can be any size or shape. Everything from the common most common 10 gallon size, all the way up to whatever size your room will support.

They include marine aquariums, and freshwater aquariums. These can be placed on a piece of furniture, in the corner of any room in the house. Or they can be wall mounted. Were they are actually inserted into a wall.

Probably the most used is a 10 gallon. Aquariums usually are glass or acrylic. Both of these types of tanks have their pros and cons. Glass can be broken or cracked and care must be taken to prevent this. Plexiglas is more durable, but they are prone to scratching, obscuring the view of the fish.

Aquariums come in about any size. The most common shape is a rectangle. Round fish tanks are common also. In my opinion both the round and octagon tanks, distort the view.

Freshwater tanks are much easier to clean, than saltwater ones. Whereas a freshwater tank can be kept healthy and vibrant with very little work. In contrast a saltwater tank needs to have daily attention.

To balance out the extra work of a saltwater aquarium, salt water fish, are more exotic and have more vibrant colors.

Some of the easiest to take care of are Gold Fish and Beta fish tanks. Beta fish are also known as Siamese fighting fish. These fish tanks take the least amount of maintenance of all. Last of all there is a virtual fish tank. Instead of being in the room, they are actually a screen saver on your computer.

Basic Betta Fish Facts

If you've been enchanted by the beauty and engaging personality of betta fish and you think you would like to own one, here are a few basic betta fish facts that may interest you. Some of these tidbits of information might actually be helpful while others are just interesting and simply add to your general knowledge about betta fish. Such basic facts as origin and natural habitat are essential if you really wish to own and take care of bettas.
The Betta splendens, or the Siamese fighting fish, is a native of the slow moving streams and ponds of Asia. First seen in Cambodia, which was known before as Siam, hence the name Siamese fighting fish, it can also be found in Vietnam, Thailand, and China. Bettas are known to be very aggressive towards other bettas and will fight until their opponent backs down or gets seriously injured just to defend their territory. This behavior has been exploited for entertainment purposes, but these days the aggressive traits of betta fish are often bread out by the breeders.
Without a doubt, the beautiful colors and flowing fins make the betta a very attractive pet fish. Another reason for their appeal is that they tend to respond to their owners much more than other fish. Their eyesight is phenomenal and they will usually approach the water surface when they see you coming. Male bettas have longer fins while females' fins are shorter. Male bettas are also larger and much more colorful.
The aggressive nature of the betta is the reason why it is difficult to keep them in a single tank without them exhibiting aggression towards each other. Though they attack other bettas, they are surprisingly tolerant of other types of fish and are oftentimes bullied by other aggressive fish. Maybe it's because they do not treat other types of fish as competitors for females.
This trait makes bettas a suitable addition to a community tank, although they will not make good tank mates with just any fish, and they will probably always be happier when alone.
If you are planning to build a community tank, you would be well advised to do some research on compatible fish for a betta.
Another betta fish fact that you might find interesting is their method of breathing. Instead of breathing underwater like most fish, bettas breathe air instead of water with an organ called the labyrinth. That's why you might notice them going up to the surface and opening their mouth every once in a while. For that reason, it's best to keep bettas in an aquarium that is not too high. Their frequent trips to the surface may require too much energy, which would stress them out and make them weaker and thus more susceptible to disease. That's why, even though some aquarium designs may be very appealing to you, if they are too tall, they will not be the best choice for a betta.
A good example would be wall-mounted aquariums. They are very popular with many aquarists because of the ease of maintenance. The Aqua Bella aquariums, for instance, require water changes only once per year. Even though technically appropriate for betta fish, they would not be ideal. Remember betta's natural home - shallow, warm and still waters of rice paddies. In aquarium terms that translates to 10 inches from the substrate to the surface of the water as the ideal height for a betta.
If you want to keep a betta as a pet, you must always keep in mind that bettas are originally from a tropical climate. In order to keep them healthy, you must replicate the conditions of their natural environment. Water temperatures of around 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit should keep the fish comfortable and reduce the chance of parasites. You should also make sure that your water isn't moving too fast in case you have an active filtration system. Bettas are used to slow moving waters and strong currents might stress it.
Some very popular aquariums have rather strong filters. Be sure to ask about that before your purchase, as not all manufacturers are aware of the needs of bettas in this regard and they sometimes advertise or recommend certain types of filtration for betta fish tanks, even though the current is definitely too strong.
If you would like to deepen your understanding of these beautiful species, betta fish facts can be found all around, from books in the library, to Wikipedia entries on the Internet. They are not only entertaining but also informative. Certain facts are also essential to you, if you aspire to become a betta fish owner, since this knowledge could help you improve your ability to care for your pet fish.

Wall Mounted Aquarium - Beautify Your Surroundings

The wall mounted aquarium hangs like a framed piece of art but encompasses live fish. It is easy to see and enjoy your fish as they are mounted at eye level. With its ingenuity and eye pleasing design as well as limited maintenance the wall aquarium will become the centerpiece of conversation. Your home will receive a vibrant kick to the aesthetics from this moving picture on your wall.
We are just beginning to understand how stress affects our health and how important it is to relax. One of the many benefits that a wall mounted aquarium provides is its effect on a persons mind, body and spirit. Tranquility and harmony takes over and will help reduce your stress and improve your health. The aquarium will have an over all calming effect.
They are made with half tempered safety glass in an ordinary tank. They hang on ordinary wall studs and do not take up valuable floor or cabinet space. They are available in various colors and sizes from as small as two feet wide up to thirty feet wide. A small aquarium can weigh seventy five to one hundred pounds when full and a large one can weigh close to three hundred pounds when full of water. They also come with a beautiful scenic background or you may design one yourself. Some color options for finishes are natural grain, mahogany, cherry, red walnut, oak, black and stainless steel.
Wall mounted aquariums are sure to please any level of experience from a fish hobbyist to an active fish keeper. An important advantage of wall mounted from a regular tank is if you have small children or pets they are mounted out of reach. Accidents can happen and at least you can be reassured that this tank can't be tipped over.
You can purchase fresh water and salt water aquariums. The advantage here is fresh water tanks. They are easier to maintain and the fish are less expensive. Salt water fish colors are beautiful, but they usually are large and this becomes an issue with this type of tank.
I would suggest you consider having a professional install the wall mounted aquarium. The advantage is that all the cables and equipment can be professionally hidden. All you will have to do is add your fish and plants. If you choose to install yourself the filters and heater come already installed. You need to set the heater by simply turning a dial. With steel brackets securely fix and level your aquarium then carefully slide onto the brackets. Once the aquarium is mounted you can fill it right away with lime free water.
The aquarium comes with water treatments that will condition the water. You then turn it on and let the aquarium sit for five days. To let the filters mature start adding about five fish every week until your tank is fully stocked. It is very important that you be patient and introduce the fish in small amounts rather then all at once. That would be a recipe for disaster. The wall mounted aquarium limits your fish selection to smaller fish. The fish size is limited to the width of the tank.
There are numerous companies that have websites online devoted to selling wall mounted aquariums. There are some that offer options custom made to your specifications. Your end result from this purchase will be hours of enjoyment and will add value to your home.
This art treasure will amaze your friends and family while beautifying your surroundings.

The Best Way to Set Up a Wall Mounted Marine Aquarium

The life underneath the sea has long fascinated the landlubbers who strive to learn its mysteries, and the benefit of being able to move a small piece of it into their apartment has proved too difficult to bear. A saltwater fish tank can be viewed in apartments all over the world, containing everything from tropical fish to sharks and stingrays.
